Ceramic Dewatering Element for Paper Machine

Dewatering elements are among the most critical components in the paper machine forming and press sections. They directly determine dewatering efficiency, sheet formation quality, and overall operational stability. Efficient dewatering reduces moisture content of the wet web at an early stage, which significantly lowers energy consumption in the drying section, improves production speed, and reduces production costs. High-performance dewatering elements ensure uniform dewatering, minimize fiber flocculation, reduce wire and felt abrasion, and decrease paper defects such as streaks, pinholes and uneven basis weight. By stabilizing web running, they also reduce web breaks, extend the service life of fabrics and felts, and ultimately improve paper quality, production efficiency and economic benefits for paper mills. 

Various Positions and Compositions

According to the different usage positions, they are respectively forming board,hydrofoil box ,low vacuum suction box,high vacuum suction box,and transfer suction box. The box material is stainless steel, and the cover is UHMW or ceramics material.

1. Forming board
Forming board is the initial dewatering component installed right after the headbox in the paper machine forming section. It provides stable support for the forming fabric and the pulp sheet, realizing gentle preliminary dewatering to avoid fiber flocculation and wire vibration. With a smooth ceramic or UHMWPE top cover, it helps improve sheet formation, uniformity and surface quality, laying a solid foundation for subsequent dewatering processes.

2. HydroFoil box

HydroFoil box is a high-efficiency dynamic dewatering unit composed of multiple curved foil elements in an integrated box structure. It generates micro vacuum through hydrodynamic action to achieve continuous and efficient dewatering without strong disturbance to the wet web. Equipped with wear-resistant ceramic top covers, it reduces fabric abrasion, stabilizes sheet running, enhances dewatering capacity, and improves both paper uniformity and production efficiency.

3. Low vacuum wet suction box
Low vacuum wet suction box is designed for medium and front forming section with low negative pressure dewatering. It features a well-sealed stainless steel box body and uniform vacuum distribution, matched with a precision slotted ceramic cover to ensure stable and mild dewatering. With lower energy consumption and less impact on fiber retention, it effectively removes free water, improves sheet consistency, and protects the forming fabric during operation.

4. High vacuum wet suction box
High vacuum wet suction box is applied in the rear part of the forming section for high-strength dewatering. It adopts a rigid, high-sealing box structure to withstand higher vacuum levels, efficiently extracting a large amount of water from the wet web to significantly reduce moisture content before the press section. The top is equipped with high-wear ceramic cover to ensure stable vacuum and long service life, thus reducing drying load and overall energy consumption of the paper machine.

5. Transfer suction box
Transfer suction box is specially used at the fabric transfer point to hold and convey the wet web reliably. By providing stable and adjustable vacuum, it firmly adsorbs the sheet to prevent floating, wrinkling or breaking during transfer between forming fabrics or transfer sections. With a precision-finished ceramic top cover, it ensures smooth running, stable sheet transfer and improved operating efficiency of the paper machine.
