What is Tension Roll
After the new net is replaced, it must be pre-tensioned to make it taut, so as to form a smooth net surface on the net case, and it will not slip during operation. During operation, due to the wear of the mesh and the plastic deformation under tension, there will be slack, and the mesh needs to be tensioned in time. When shutting down for maintenance or cleaning, in order to protect the net, the net must be loosened. When driving, it should be gradually tightened. These tasks are all done by tensioning rollers. The tensioning roller is made of brass tube, and it is also made of cast iron tube covered with copper or rubber.
The wrapping angle between the tension roller and the net is mostly 10~15°. If the wrapping angle is too large, the warp of the net will be bent too much, which will directly affect the life of the net. During operation, the net should not be too tight, and run as loosely as possible, otherwise transverse cracks will appear on the edge of the net, the net joint and the net width, and the net will be broken in severe cases. The pressure device of the tension roller is generally a screw pressure type and a weight pressure type (balanced type). Modern paper machines use hydraulic or pneumatic pressure
