Product Description

Press Felts 

Press felts are fabrics used in the papermaking industry for paper formation, dewatering and transportation.

They need to have properties such as dewatering ability, wear resistance and heat resistance. Wet felts are responsible for dewatering and smoothing the paper web, while top felts, which come into contact with the drying cylinders, need to be heat-resistant. Dryer felts can be replaced with polyester filament fabrics to achieve ironing and drying.

Names of Press felts:
I.According to the position and function of the felts in the paper machine, they can be classified as:
Press felts: Used in the press section, mainly for dewatering, supporting and conveying the wet web.
Pickup felts: Used to pick up the wet web from the forming section and transfer it to the press section.
Dryer flets: Used in the dryer section, mainly for pressing the paper against the dryer cylinders, improving heat transfer and drying efficiency, and ensuring smoothness of the paper.

Functions of Press felts: 

1. Water filtering function: As a dewatering medium, the papermaking felt absorbs and removes water from the paper web during dewatering in vacuum boxes and press nips.
2. Smoothing function: Smoothes and finishes the paper surface during web transfer and dewatering.
3. Conveying function: Transports the paper web from the forming section through the press section to the dryer section, and drives the rotation of passive rolls and cylinder mould.

Selection of Press felts

The selection of press felts depends on the type of paper to be produced, basis weight, surface finishing requirements, paper machine type, circumstance conditions of felt use, and existing felt cleaning and purification equipment. When the surface finishing requirements of the paper are strict, the bottom wire of the felt should have finer longitudinal and transverse yarns, and the surface should be smooth.

1. High-speed and wide-width paper machines require felts with good strength and stability. 

2. On grooved, blind holes and vacuum press rolls, the felts need to be more robust. 
3. When the press load is high and the press roll surface is hard, higher mechanical performance is required for the felts.
4. Felts with high-pressure water flushing require good pile fastness.
