The breast roll is the beginning of the forming table, mainly responsible for supporting the forming fabric and dewatering the pulp for paper forming.
Function:
One of the breast roll's functions is to support the forming fabric. The forming fabric changes direction on the breast roll, and after passing the breast roll, the non-working surface of the forming fabric becomes the working surface.
Then, the breast roll is also a dewatering element on the wire section, and the dewatering amount can be controlled by the landing point of the paper pulp flow. If the pulp flow directly land on the breast roll, a large amount of water will be drained. If the pulp flow is sprayed on the forming fabric, the dewatering effect on the breast roll is very small, and the paper forming will be controlled by the table roll or dewatering board.
Moreover,the breast roll promotes a more uniform structure of the sheet, thus improving the overall performance of the sheet.
The breast roll is a tube roll structure with light weight to reduce the load on the breast roll driven by the copper mesh. Breast roll generally use steel thin-walled tube, coated with 3-4mm thick copper skin or 8mm thick rubber. There also exists breast roll coated with the glass fiber reinforced plastics.
In order to prevent fiber blocks from entering between the breast roll and copper mesh, the roll surface is equipped with plastic or wooden scraper to clean the roll surface. Usually, an extension board is provided on the back of the scraper to direct the white water into the first saveall box.
